"Our 'Home'

We are writing this letter to tell you how much we LOVE our newly refurbished home.

Due to the floods of July 2007 our house was submerged in 4 ft of water making our house uninhabitable and the devastation was beyond belief throughout the whole of the bottom floor.

After being let down by a local builder our insurance company put us in touch with Paul Cooke Construction to deal with the renovation of our house. As a company and as a team they proved to be honest, flexible and hard working and nothing was too much trouble.

Paul Cook was accessible throughout the refurbishment and if anything wasn't done exactly the way we envisaged it to be, Paul made sure it was taken care of personally. And he followed up everything as well! It's refreshing to find a builder who cares about the people as much as the end product. We were especially pleased that Paul shared our vision of how the finished product should look as well as understanding and listening to our concerns.

We look forward and feel confident to use Paul Cook Construction as builders again and also to recommend them to anyone else.

Dear Paul,

Now that the building of our extension is complete, I would like to take this opportunity to place on record our pleasure and appreciation at the work you have done.

From the start I was impressed by your professionalism when you came to quote for the work, particularly when you identified an existing structural defect which other builders had missed or ignored, putting it into a "too difficult to do" box. You were candid about every aspect of the quote and remained so throughout the whole build.

Once the work started, you and your team made rapid progress without ever giving us the impression that the work was being rushed. Even our supply of cups of coffee could not slow the progress - if only I had taken shares in Nescafe before work commenced!

All the team showed continuous respect for our home and accommodated all our little requests with the best of humour. On the subject of humour, it has been great fun having you all here during this project and the banter and fun has been a continuous source of enjoyment and also helped us to manage our levels of stress and anxiety over undertaking such a major change to our home. Of course, along the way, some unexpected issues and small snags cropped up, mainly owing to an error in the plan drawings, but you found a suitable solution which not only solved the problem but also avoided any extra costs.

At the end of the job, we were very happy with the standard of finishing and the tidy state in which the house, garden and driveway were left. When you came out to check the work at the end, you spotted things we had not and, no messing around, you had them done to your satisfaction. I should also mention the good work carried out by the plumber and electrician you used on this job, both tradesmen have done a tidy job and everything even works!

In summary Paul, thank you to you and to all your team, we are delighted with what you have achieved here. I would have no reservation in recommending you to anyone needing building work done and I would most certainly hope that you would be available if we decide to have any other building work done in the future.

Now that the first floor extension is complete and we have decorated, fitted carpets and furnished the two bedrooms I would like to extend my thanks to you and your team for a job well done and completed on time.

Right from the start of the project you took the time to help and advise me with the planning requirements and submissions to the local authorities. Once the work started you kept me fully informed on what was planned for the next day and week ahead. All the people involved roofers, plasters etc. were very competent, good timekeepers, trustworthy and always made an effort to clean up at the end of the day.

Insurance remedial work to repair the damage caused to a house in Cricklade by a nearby tree, was allocated to Paul Cook Construction.

From the moment I met Paul Cook I was reassured by his manner, knowledge and expertise. Nothing was too much trouble and at all times during the remedial work he enquired if everything was as required. I was invited to observe and take photographs at all stages - nothing hidden; no short cuts that later return to cause further problems.

As for Paul's standard of work and that of his team, I can only say it was exceptional. Brickwork, plastering, painting and wallpapering were all very high quality.

I am no building expert and as such have to rely on those that purport to be. There are many TV programs about building disasters and one starts off being wary of ending up on ‘Watchdog' or some other similar show. I honestly believe that Paul Cook will never feature in any of those programs as the high quality of his work precludes him from participating in them.

 "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: We contacted Paul Cook Construction Limited to carry out work for St. John's Parish Church at Haydon Wick, Swindon which included demolishing a supporting wall and putting in a studded wall in a different area to form a new room and new kitchen in a different place within the church. A new drain was installed into a major draining area, RSJ was installed, Velux windows were put into the roof of the church and cupboards were erected - this was ail part of the contract together with new electricity installed in the new rooms radiators installed and some existing ones re-positioned. Further to the original contract the whole church was re-decorated, installation between walls and roof installed, rooms replastered, re-wiring of music system in the main worship area. Paul Cook was always willing and helpful in resolving the many problems that arose during the work, his willingness to accommodate changes to our requirements and agreeing to undertake other new work along the way. Paul also kept the the site tidy and cleared up afterwards. His work was to a very high specification. Paul was always professional and ensured the Building inspector was fully informed during the project that was undertaken and kept us fully informed as to progress. He attended any necessary meetings we called, to discuss any of the work with other professional people (i.e the Architect, Building Surveyor etc.).
